Hey folks-
How’s it going?
I have to thank EVERYONE who came out to Blue Note last month. The show was sooooo fun!!!!!!
Since then I have been having a hectic few weeks…but a good kind of hectic! In addition to working on my new album, I have been busy with my graduate studies and working on music for other artists. This means that although you will not see my new album until sometime early 2011, it does NOT mean you won’t get to hear me before the end of this year. I have loads of exciting stuff coming up.
First of all, I am featured on and co-wrote several songs on Talib Kweli’s next release, Gutter Rainbows which should be out before the end of the year. ALSO…get this…I am featured with Kweli on Quincy Jones next album Soul Bossa Nostra (see the cover below) which drops on Nov 9th. Crazy, right? Talib and I are on the first track entitled, “Ironside”…unbelievable!!!!! I could not be happier…Q is the man and someone who I (and countless others) have looked up to and admired my entire life. This is truly an honor.
So there you have it folks….my long absence has not been in vain. I am working hard kids and shortly you will be able to witness the fruit of my labor.

Spring is in the air…new site, new album…SOON COME!

Hey kids-
Once again I have been away too long…I know. I have been super busy with school and writing material for my new album. I’m a regular broken record, right?
Now spring is here and summer is just around the corner…YAY! This sunny season has been such a long time coming for me. Thus, I plan to make the most of it by spending time on the beach, in the park with fam and friends and (of course!) in the studio finishing up the album so that I can get it to you early fall. It has been three years since “New Voice” so it is so time to get this new music out into the universe. Agreed?!?!?!
Recently, we went into the studio to lay the band down on five tunes and it went great. Now after a bit of stress and worry, I am sooooo excited about this new project. I really hope you will like it. Check out these photos from our session:

How goes it?
I know you think I totally disappeared…but I am back…well…sort of!
As promised, I am still planning to release my 2nd album sometime this year but not right away. I am not done writing and recording…well because…life keeps happening and there’s just so much to say. But I am getting closer…pinky swear!
In the meantime, you can come hear some of my new songs (LIVE!) & let me know what you think. I will be doing a duo set with my good friend & collaborator Christian Ver Halen (guitar) on Tuesday (3/9) in the BIG CITY. Please see the below for the details & do come through if you can. I cannot wait…this is my first solo show of 2010!

Hey kids-
I apologize for the gross negligence of this page. I have been super busy with school. The good news is that I will be going into the studio this January to start recording my next album (or EP depending on how I feel) so it won’t be long! My hope is that I can also fit a show or two in during the first two months of 2010 just so I don’t get too rusty before the next record is released! I’ll keep you posted…

Hi all-
I just wanted to thank everyone who came out to see me at Blue Note NYC last night. I had so much fun! The house was packed and the best part about it was that the new songs came off really well. YAY!
Soooooo…..there truly is no rest for the weary because it is time for me to get cracking on some even NEWER material. I hope to perform a few of them at my upcoming show at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC on October 25th. Check the show page for more details…until then…back to these books!

Hey peeps! I know you haven’t heard from me since I returned from Texas (SXSW/Babyface gig) back in March. No worries…I haven’t fallen off of the face of the earth. I’ve just been doing what I love to do best: living, working, creating! Mainly, writing words and music…sometime together and sometimes not. I can’t wait to share some of this new material with you so I may do a few acoustic shows this summer to work it all out. BUT I definitely want you to come through to my annual Blue Note show on September 21st (see show page for info). The Blue Note gig is always my favorite of the year and this time won’t be any different. If you come you’ll get to hear the new stuff with my entire band…COOL?!?!!?! Until then, I will be readying myself to record another album and start classes as an Anthropology grad student this fall. Pray 4 me!?!?!
